ABOUT
Colombian-American Soprano Vanessa Vasquez—known for her luscious voice “melting all hearts” (Chicago Tribune)— makes her debut in this upcoming season with companies all across the country. A native of Scottsdale, Arizona and an alumna of the Academy of Vocal Arts, Ms. Vasquez has been awarded Top prize in many renowned vocal competitions: 2017 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, The Richard Tucker Foundation's 2017 Sara Tucker Study Grant and The Gerda Lissner Foundation Vocal Competition among others.
Ms. Vasquez begins the 2019-20 season in Toronto with her Canadian Opera Company debut as the loyal heroine Liú in Turandot. In 2020 she makes her company and role debut as Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni with Washington National Opera. Celebrating its 85th Anniversary in March, Ms. Vasquez joins her esteemed colleagues at the Academy of Vocal Arts Gala at THE MET in Philadelphia. Following the gala, she makes her company debut as Mimí in La bohème with Seattle Opera.
Recent engagements include appearances with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra and leading role debuts with Des Moines Metro Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera Philadelphia and The Santa Fe Opera.
