
ABOUT
Colombian-American Soprano Vanessa Vasquez—known for her luscious voice “melting all hearts” (Chicago Tribune)— makes her debut in this upcoming season with companies all across the country. A native of Scottsdale, Arizona and an alumna of the Academy of Vocal Arts, Ms. Vasquez has been awarded Top prize in many renowned vocal competitions: 2017 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, The Richard Tucker Foundation's 2017 Sara Tucker Study Grant and The Gerda Lissner Foundation Vocal Competition among others.
Ms. Vasquez began the 2021 season with Santa Fe Opera as her role debut of Countess in The Marriage of Figaro. She then debuted the role of Micaëla in Carmen with Washington National Opera, which The Washington Post described as “a stunning performance...[Her aria in Act III] was one of the evening’s vocal highlights, her voice a bright beam from the stage.” This 2022 season, Ms. Vasquez makes her anticipated company debut with Detroit Opera in Ainadamar.
Recent engagements include appearances with Seattle Opera’s Recital Series, The New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra; and leading role debuts with Washington National Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Santa Fe Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera Philadelphia and Des Moines Metro Opera.
